The Centralia Historic Preservation Commission and The Centralia Downtown Association are joining together to promote “Trains, Dames and Prohibition” Walking Tour, a Historic Preservation Month Celebration, on Saturday, May 18th from 9:30 a.m.to noon. This is a great opportunity to get a close-up inside look at how Centralia’s past has been an essential asset to Washington State’s history. This guided tour is free to the public and gives the participants an opportunity to learn the history of some of the downtown buildings with a tour guide to tell them historical facts and stories about the buildings. There is no better way to experience Centralia than at street level on foot. Come discover this vibrant and diverse city. Our guided walking tour, will explore the layers of history that make up the fabric of Centralia.

The day will start at the Centralia Train Depot, Centralia, with a display of historic collages and historical information about the cities downtown. We will have light refreshments for the participants and they will be given the tour handout and a coupon package. We will also have other highlights that day. The Field and Lease/Robinson Buildings, Historic Centralia Union Depot, Olympic Club, Masonic Building, Historic Fox Theater and a few more notable locations will all be on the tour. You will get a guided tour look into the history of the buildings, how they played a role in defining the economy and just a hint of the notorious history of Centralia.Images
