Territorial Express Stagecoach Run

The Tumwater Historical Association recreates the stagecoach days of southwest Washington when a real stagecoach, pulled by horses and carrying passengers, living history performers and US mail, travels from Longview to Olympia. The stage will stop about every 10 miles to change horses. Each stage stop will be owned by a non-profit group, which will offer food, music, souvenirs, and more. Watch the stage come in, sit in a stationary stagecoach, watch the horse teams being changed, and listen to living history performers and interpretive speakers. A local postmaster will be at each stage stop to apply special cancellations to commemorative envelopes that will be carried on the stage. The 10th New York Cavalry Unit will escort the stage on its route.
