FREE CONCERT! CWU Ventus Trio

Centralia College presents the highly praised CWU Ventus Trio, a remarkable ensemble distinguished by its range, exuberance and sumptuous sound. The Trio consisting of Drs. Hal Ott (flute), Daniel Lipori (bassoon), and Maria Roditileva-Wibe (piano) will perform a Beethoven and Brahms program. The concert will take place on Sunday, February 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Corbet Theatre on the campus of Centralia College. The concert is open to the public and there is no charge for admission. Program: Trio in D Major, Op. 70, No. 1, "Ghost" by Ludwig van Beethoven Trio in B Major, Op. 8 by Johannes Brahms Dr. Hal Ott is professor of Flute at Central Washington University where he was honored with the title of Distinguished Professor. He serves as principal flute with the Yakima Symphony, and he has presented clinics, adjudicated, and performed in recital and as a concerto soloist throughout the United States, Europe, and China. He was a finalist in the Erwin Bodkey Competition in Boston, a winner of the National Flute Association Professional Performers' Competition, and he served as program chair for the NFA, creating an exciting 5-day convention in Dallas for NFA 6000 members. He has published numerous articles in Flute Talk Magazine and The National Flutist Quarterly and 7 CDs. He is an author of the widely used pedagogical textbook, Teaching Woodwinds. Dr. Daniel Lipori is Professor of Bassoon at Central Washington University where he has worked since 2004. He has performed with the CWU Faculty Wind Quintet, the Intermontane Bassoon Trio, and on Baroque bassoon with the Musica Antiqua Series. He also has performed in the region with the Yakima Symphony, Wenatchee Valley Symphony, Bellevue Philharmonic, Washington-Idaho Symphony, and numerous other orchestras. Dr. Lipori is author of: Georg Wenzel Ritter; Quartets for Bassoon and Strings, by A-R Editions in 1999 and A Researcher's Guide to the Bassoon, by The Edwin Mellen Press in 2002. He is also the primary new bassoon music reviewer for the Double Reed Journal, and regular contributes articles to the journal. Dr. Maria Roditeleva-Wibe is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Music Department at CWU, specializing in Music History, Music Theory, and World Music and Piano studies. Prior to her arrival at CWU, Dr. Roditeleva-Wibe was an Assistant Professor of Music at Herzen Pedagogical University in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where she taught music theory, music history, piano, and advanced courses in ethnomusicology. Dr. Roditeleva-Wibe is a frequent soloist and chamber musician. Recent performances include Tchaikovsky's The Twelve Seasons and Maurice Durufle's Requiem, guest performances with the Icicle Creek Music Center in Leavenworth, WA, participation in the "Beethoven in Ellensburg," and Franz Liszt's Transcendental Etude in F minor No. 10.
